Christina Yock

Christina Maria (Tonn) Yock, age 56, passed away on March 25, 2024. She was born Nov. 2, 1967, in Sacramento, California, to Joachim Harry “Jakim” Tonn and Mary Elizabeth (Horton) Tonn. She was the second of their three children. When Christina was seven, the J.H. Tonn family moved near Auburn, California, to a community known as Lake of the Pines, where she loved swimming in the lake, riding her moped, and going for long walks in the forest.

In the spring of 1990, Christina relocated to Brookings, Oregon, where she was married for seven years. During that time, she had one daughter Jessica Olivia Yock, in 1995; Christina was always a doting and fiercely devoted mom!

In 2004, she moved to Roseburg and spent the next 11 years caring for her elderly parents until they passed on, Jakim in 2008, and Mary in 2015. For the past eight years, she lived a simple life at Central Trailer Park. She wrote poetry and stories, and created art in unique forms, often sending poems with stamped pictures to friends and relatives for birthdays, holidays and other special occasions.

She thoroughly enjoyed music and would sing with the radio, or A capella. Christina loved to read her Bible and she had a deep and abiding faith in God. She had many friends in the Roseburg area and she often found ways to share what she had with them.

Christina’s loving spirit will be well-remembered and greatly missed! She passed away sitting in her home, in her favorite chair. Christina lived life on her own terms and met the end peacefully.

Having been preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, two cousins, an aunt and two uncles, Christina is survived by her older sister Becca Elizabeth Tonn of Colorado Springs Colorado, younger brother Paul Samuel Jakim Tonn of Lincoln, California, sister-in-law Deanna (Randall) Tonn of Lincoln, California, daughter Jessica Yock of Brookings, Oregon, son-in-law Dane Tippman of Brookings, Oregon, four aunts, four uncles, seven cousins, six cousins-in-law, three nieces, one nibling, six nephews and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Christina’s celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at one of Christina’s favorite places: the Roseburg Public Library, in the South Umpqua Room. A reception will immediately follow her service in the same room.
